The recent debate about the healthcare assistant workforce within the NHS has promoted discussion about the education and training of this staff group. This article outlines the education and training opportunities available and identifies that, with such a disparate picture nationally, further work needs to be done to ensure HCAs are sufficiently supported to undertake their role.
